Sally's E- Portfolio

     One of my accomplishments in English is the "Inspirational People Project." In this project, you had to choose someone that inspired you in some way, and create a poem about that person. Once you created the poem, you then had to make a video showcasing the poem. For my poem, I wrote about Troian Bellisario because she has inspired me in so many ways that are hard to explain. I feel like I can relate to her because she went through similar things I also went through, and I felt like writing the poem about her would kind of act as a nod of recognition to her. For me, writing the poem wasn't hard itself, but the planning for the poem took a very long time. I had a lot I wanted to say in the poem, but couldn't find the right words to express my thoughts and ideas. However, after hours and hours of searching, I finally put together a draft that actually made sense.

 

     This project shows my achievement because I was never the person who wrote personal poems. The poems I usually wrote were about the seasons of the year, especially spring and autumn. Having the project of writing a personal poem was very new to me because I don't like putting my personal thoughts and feelings out there for everyone else to see, and I feel like this project has showed me a new point of view in the writing world, where you put your personal thoughts out in a piece of writing that has so much more meaning hidden under the words, and you have to really dig deep to decode the real meaning behind the poem.
